Sri Lanka needed to score 391 runs to win, but they only managed 73 runs in 22 overs, and India easily defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs.

In addition to being the largest victory in ODI history, India is the first side ever to defeat a team by more than 300 runs in an ODI.

In the bowling department, Mohammad Siraj was the star of India's triumph, taking 4 wickets. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, however, took the news of the Sri Lankan bowlers with great ire.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, opener Gill and captain Rohit Sharma (42) set up 95 runs in 15.2 overs.

Mohammad Siraj, a bowler, claimed 4 wickets, while Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav both claimed 2-2 wickets.

India has now defeated Sri Lanka in ten straight series. In 1997, Sri Lanka and India last finished a series tied 1-1.
