On the second day of the first Test match in Chittagong on Thursday, India held Bangladesh to a score of 37 for two in their opening inning.

On the very first delivery of the innings, Mohammed Siraj dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto (batting), then Umesh Yadav bowled Yasir Ali.

On Day 2 of the first Test match against Bangladesh, Team India continued their innings from an overnight total of 278/6 in 90 overs.

To push the score above 350 without losing another wicket, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav formed a solid partnership. The partnership saw Ashwin reach his 13th half century in Test games.

Fans' attention was drawn to the visitors' allocation of five penalty runs for Bangladesh's sloppy fielding as India's innings got begun.

R Ashwin got an edge off the second delivery of Taijul Islam's 112nd over, and the ball travelled beyond first slip and into the area of third man.

Following the throw, the ball struck the helmet that was behind the wicketkeeper, resulting in five penalty runs being given to Team India.
