In the first of their three-match One Day International series, Virat Kohli scored an outstanding century to lead India to a 67-run victory over Sri Lanka.

The former captain, who is just four short of Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record, scored his 45th ODI century.

India, who were given the opportunity to bat first, finished their innings at 373-7 with the help of captain Rohit Sharma's 83 and Shubman Gill's 70.

Dasun Shanaka, the captain of Sri Lanka, struck an undefeated 108, and the opener, Pathum Nissanka, scored a solid 72 in response but didn’t make it to win.

Then, in a lopsided encounter, young speed merchants Mohammed Siraj (2/30) and Umran Malik (3/57) added the cherry on top.

In the last ODI between India and Bangladesh in Chattogram, Kohli hit 113 runs, and he carried on from there.
