Shubman Gill, who is sometimes referred to as the "future of Indian batting," demonstrated that the T20I is where he belongs by getting his first century in the competition against New Zealand.

In the shortest format, Gill, who had previously struck a historic double hundred in ODIs against the Kiwis, made his first career triple-digit score.

Shubman Gill became the fifth Indian to record a T20I hundred by completing his century in just 54 balls.

With his final score of 126, Gill established a new record for an Indian in T20 internationals. The previous record holder for an Indian in T20 Internationals was Virat Kohli.

In the Asia Cup match against Afghanistan, Kohli had amassed an unbeaten 122 points. In the game against the Kiwis, Gill overtook him.

With the help of 12 fours and seven sixes, Gill maintained his excellent form and displayed the range of his smashes as he scored 126 runs off just 63 balls without being out.

The following over from Lockie Ferguson saw two boundaries from the in-form Gill. He was at his most menacing when picking up hits, drives, or pulls to keep up his charge.
