On January 13, the world's longest river cruise, the MV Ganga Vilas, was officially launched in Varanasi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video link.

In 51 days and 3,200 kilometres, the MV Ganga Vilas will go from Varanasi to Dibrugarh in Assam across 27 different river systems in both Bangladesh and India.

The first cruise ship ever built in India, the MV Ganga Vilas is the longest river cruise in the world.

The modernist ship is 62 metres long, 12 metres broad, and needs a draught of 1.4 metres. It was built to honour Indian and world design.

Three decks and 18 suites with all necessary amenities make up the MV Ganga. The ship can accommodate thirty-two passengers in total.

The Varanasi to Dibrugarh expedition on the longest river in the world will cost over Rs 13 lakh, with an average charge per person of almost Rs 25,000 per night.

The MV Ganga Vilas' route was carefully planned so that stops were made at significant historical, cultural, and religious sites to highlight India's rich past.

The trip will also pass by the Sunderbans in the Bay of Bengal delta, famous for its regal Bengal tigers, and Kaziranga National Park, home to the one-horned rhinoceros.
