In the second ODI of the three-match series, played on Sunday in Indore, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer smashed their way to hundreds while smashing the Australian spinners.

With his fifth hundred of the year, Gill extended his unbeaten streak in ODI cricket. It took him 92 balls to achieve his sixth hundred in the format.

Gill, who batted first, also held the record for the fastest time it took an Indian player to score six ODI hundreds (35 innings). He broke Shikhar (46) record for India's quickest six ODI hundreds.

Gautam Gambhir (68), KL Rahul (53), and Virat Kohli are the other players who have scored India's first six ODI tonnes in the quickest time possible.

Gill also became the first player before the age of 25 to achieve five or more ODI hundreds in a calendar year, joining Sachin Tendulkar, Graeme Smith, Upul Tharanga, and Kohli.

Iyer regaining his mojo with his third ODI century, which came off 86 balls, will be further boost for India's World Cup preparations.
