The breaking news that opener Shubman Gill will play in the pivotal World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan on October 14, Saturday has made headlines.
After being diagnosed with dengue, Gill missed the final roster for two key games against Australia and Afghanistan. As a result, he was hospitalised in Chennai due to a drop in his platelet count.
There was a very less likelihood that Gill would be available for the Pakistan match up until Tuesday. However, he was discharged from the hospital, and on Thursday morning.
According to accounts, Gill was upbeat before participating in the demanding practise session in the afternoon. Doctors who were attending to him were with him.
The team management is anticipated to make a decision regarding Gill inclusion in the team, which would be his first match in the World Cup 2023, when he participates in another full-fledged session.
Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India and legendary batsman, has asked the team administration to exercise caution in treating Gill's recuperation.
