The long-awaited "Chat Lock" feature from WhatsApp has finally been released in order to improve the app's security and privacy.

Users of WhatsApp now have the option to lock particular chats using a password or biometric authentication according to a new feature introduced by Meta.

These chats will also be kept separately and the name and content of the notice, which can only be read after verification, are hidden.

On both Android and iOS, it has been possible to lock the entire WhatsApp app using biometrics or a PIN number, but this new capability enables users to further protect particular private messages.

The chat-locked messages will therefore stay private even if someone gains access to your phone. Without a code, nobody can open.

End-to-end encryption, encrypted chat backup, and vanishing messages are just a few of the security and privacy-related capabilities that WhatsApp already offers.

Among other things, you can limit who can see the last-seen status and block screenshots. With the most recent version, Meta has improved WhatsApp's privacy and security features even more.
