Celebrities indeed have an army of trainers and specialists working at their beck and call, but they too have to put in a lot of effort to maintain their physical fitness. They follow a strict diet plan and work out every single day to maintain their perfect physique. Recently, when a fan asked Varun about this diet plan, the 34-year-old actor on his Instagram handle revealed that he follows intermittent fasting of 14 to 16 hours. Here is what the actor’s diet plan looks like.

03/6​ What is Intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting is not a diet trend, it is actually a modification in the lifestyle habit. Although the concept of fasting has been around for several years, it has gained immense popularity in the world of health and fitness in recent years. In intermittent fasting, one has to consume all the calories in a limited time frame and fast for the remaining period. This diet does not restrict any food group but just helps to maintain your calorie intake. In the fasted state, one has to avoid all the foods and drinks containing any amount of calories. Water, diluted Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and unsweetened coffee or tea without milk are some common drinks that one can take while fasting. They are a different kind of intermittent fasting like 16/8, 5:2, eat stop eat. The one you should try depends on your stamina and fitness goal.

04/6​ Varun’s diet plan

Taking to his Instagram handle, Varun revealed that he fasts for 14 to 16 hours and consumes all the calories of the day in the remaining 10 to 8 hours. He further elaborated that he starts his day with a cup of coffee and for breakfast, he has egg whites or omelettes or a bowl of oats.

Later for lunch, he prefers to have chicken with some vegetables. For the afternoon snack, he eats makahans or fox nuts. These nuts can make an excellent snack as they are low in calories and high in protein. They can keep you fuller for a longer time and prevent you from unhealthy munching.

Later for dinner, he again takes chicken with some veggies and ends his day. Apart from following this diet, he drinks a lot of water to stay hydrated.

05/6​ Homemade is healthy

Varun is a true desi boy at heart and cannot do without ghar ka khaana. He keeps his meals simple and does make some swaps from time to time to satisfy his taste buds. In a previous interview, he said that he loves the meal prepared by his mother. He just stays cautious about the daily calorie intake. “Eat what your mother tells you. But not always, because some mothers will prescribe buttermilk, parathas with ghee, etc. On a serious note, don’t eat too many carbs at night. That is something I follow,” Varun stated. His diet is basically rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. Protein is necessary to build muscles and repair damaged cells.

When it comes to workout, Varun likes to experiment with his routine. Along with bodyweight exercises and strength training, the 34-year-old actor swears by the benefits of pilates. He also performs martial arts and yoga whenever he gets time.
