07 May Today is the birth anniversary of the great poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore’s 160th birthday is being celebrated today across the country on May 7. Rabindranath Tagore was born on 7 May 1861 in Jorsanko Haveli, Kolkata. His father’s name was Debendranath Tagore and mother’s name was Sarada Devi. 

Mahatma Gandhi gave Rabindranath Tagore the title of ‘Gurudev’. Rabindranath Tagore used to write poems and stories since childhood. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry Gitanjali. 

Tagore was the first non-European person to receive a Nobel Prize. Rabindranath Tagore has written ‘Jana Gana Mana’, the national anthem of India. He called the national anthem of Bangladesh ‘Amar Sonar Bangla’ It is also written.

1. When Rabindranath Tagore’s Nobel Prize was stolen

Everyone knows that Rabindranath Tagore was a Nobel Prize winner. He was the first Indian, the non-European to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. The award was placed under the protection of Visva-Bharati University. In 2004 it was stolen from there. The Swedish Academy had then given two replicas of the Nobel Prize to Visva-Bharati University. One of which is made of gold and the other of bronze.

2. When Rabindranath Tagore met Albert Einstein

Rabindranath Tagore is a renowned thinker who is taught in many educational institutions around the world. This was true in his time and still is today. Once Rabindranath Tagore met the great scientist Albert Einstein. Both Rabindranath Tagore and Albert Einstein talked about God, humanity, science, truth and beauty during their meeting. 3. When Rabindranath Tagore met Mussolini
