Born on 11 August 1954 in Ludhiana, cricketer Yashpal Sharma made his debut in international cricket in the year 1978 against the arch-rival team Pakistan. He was then part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team played in England, where India defeated West Indies to create history. Yashpal Sharma, who played the last international match of his career in 1985, was never dismissed for zero in one-day cricket in a span of seven years.

Right-handed batsman Yashpal Sharma played 42 One Day International matches in his career. In his 40 innings, he scored 883 runs while remaining unbeaten 9 times. Although he could never score a century in ODI cricket, he did play half-century innings 4 times. His highest score was 89 runs in ODI cricket. At the same time, he played unmatched innings of 61 runs in the semi-finals of the World Cup, on the basis of which India reached the final.
At the same time, talking about Yashpal Sharma’s Test career, he played a total of 37 Test matches from 1979 to 1983, in which he scored a total of 1606 runs in 59 innings. In this, he scored two centuries and 9 half-centuries. Yashpal Sharma used to bowl a little too, but he did not have much success as a bowler, as he could only take one wicket each in both formats of cricket at that time.
