The Ambani family was seen at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, Hours after photographs emerged of India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani’s oldest son Akash Ambani getting engaged to Shloka Mehta, a diamond billionaire’s daughter. Akash Ambani’s engagement took place in Goa.
Shloka Mehta is the daughter of prominent diamantaire Russell Mehta. The wedding of Akash and Shloka Mehta is planned in December this year. In an interview to a newspaper, Nita Ambani confirmed that marriage is on the cards.
Ms Ambani said that she had known Shloka since she was 4 and the family was delighted to welcome her in their lives.
Photos showed a charming lawn ceremony under palm trees at a resort in Goa.
Akash is the older son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, who head the Reliance Industries and are one of the worlds richest business tycoons.
Shloka is the youngest daughter of Russell and Mona Mehta, who own Rosy Blue Diamonds, which is one of the worlds largest diamond trading companies
Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta studied together at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai and have been close friends for years, a report in the Free Press Journal said.
Shloka Mehta, who also studied at Princeton University and the London School of Economics, is a director in the family-run diamond firm. She is also the co-founder of ConnectFor, a platform that makes it easy and convenient for people to volunteer and provide services in NGOs of their choice, the Free Press Journal reported.
Akash Ambani is on the board of directors of Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail.
Speculations that their marriage was on the cards were doing the rounds since early this year and finally the engagement took place on March 24.
The wedding is planned for December 2018.
